Eastman Chemical Co Introduces Patented Polymer Pellets for Adhesive Manufacture

The US patents and Trademarks Office recently awarded a patent for a new polymer pellet product from Eastman Chemical Co that will be used in the manufacture of adhesives. The pellets can be used at a lower temperature than earlier polymer pellet products, and will save energy costs during the adhesive manufacturing process. The patented product will be sold under the name Aerafin and has already undergone testing and improvement.

Initially, the product will be used in manufacturing adhesives for the personal hygiene market, specifically for diapers and feminine hygiene products. Eastman reports that the product has very low odor, a pure-white color, and more consistent bonding than earlier adhesives used for these applications.

The company envisions the product being used in the manufacture of adhesives for the automotive industry, packaging industry, and in the manufacture of wood products in the near future.
