SBS, one type of styrenic thermoplastic elastomers, is a triblock copolymer made of styrene and butadiene monomers. It has the characteristics of both plastics and rubber, and is also well known as the third generation of rubber. Compared with thermoset rubber, SBS rubber / copolymer has various advantages in production and application, such as ease of processing, recyclability, and eco-friendliness, etc. Currently, SBS is mainly used for adhesives, footwear, plastic modification, and asphalt modification. SBS Grades of SINOPEC Baling SBS Rubber Features SBS rubber 791 and SBS rubber 796 are general grade used for asphalt modification, plastic modification, hot melt adhesives, and others, but SBS copolymer 796 has a higher viscosity. SBS rubber 791H is a specific grade for asphalt modification, especially the modification of pavement asphalt. SBS rubber 792 is a specific grade with high cohesion and good transparency used for adhesives, especially applied in various kinds of hot melt adhesives. SBS copolymer 792E has the same technical data as 792, except that it is an eco-friendly grade without any nonylphenol (NP). NP is a substance that is difficult to decompose and has the similar chemical structure to estrogen, thus having negative effects on the environment and human health. SBS rubber 188 is a general grade with good transparency, and can be used for transparent shoes and hot melt adhesives that require high liquidity. SBS copolymer 188E has the same technical data as 188, except that it is an eco-friendly grade without any nonylphenol (NP). SBS rubber 815 is an oil-extended radial SBS grade used for footwear, especially TPR shoes. SBS rubber 165 is a specific grade used for transparent materials like transparent shoe soles. SBS rubber 185 is an oil-extended radial SBS grade used for footwear requiring good abrasion resistance, especially TPR shoe soles. It also can be used for solvent-based adhesives.
