A new adhesive specifically produced for bonding galvanized metals, plastics and composites now is available from ITW Polymers. This adhesive is also fit for bonding dissimilar substrates, and it can form strong bonds with engineered plastics and composites. The methacrylate adhesive, Plexus Galvanized Bonder™, can be used as alternative for mechanical fasteners owing to its good bond strength and fatigue endurance as well as sheer, peel and impact resistance. Besides increasing the efficiency of production line due to the elimination of the processes required to join materials with mechanical fasteners, it can work without any need for surface preparation or primer application. ITW Polymers says that its adhesive is compatible with metals treated with most galvanizing processes commonly used nowadays. Galvanized components can be bonded to non-galvanized metals as well as composite and plastic components with the adhesive.
